Martin Askem was born in London in 1973. We just know that he is a self-developed and taught painter. Art has been a medium which has helped him to overcome difficult times in his own life:

Art is a medium which generates huge interest, demand and potential and attraction for wealth for those who are fortunate to enter the art world.  Art became a huge outlet, which helped me to overcome challenging and dark days of my own life and it is during this realisation that I learnt that art could be more than a visual treat and Art can change people’s lives.

The art world is one that has boundaries and has a defining line. Work which challenges problems such as racism and poverty, seemed to be left behind. Kushki highlights that those in society that are left behind are blank figures in a colourful world.  A canvas mirrors life in many ways…You start off blank, nothing there, as time goes by you fill in the gaps. But when you paint, are you bold enough to express your feelings or just appeal to the masses?

Art is a powerful and unique medium which has potential to touch other lives in so many ways, When I paint I paint from the heart, not to appeal to you or them and when I pick up my next brush what will I paint, how will I feel? Think Kushki and make a difference.

This style is encompassed in my ‘The Birth of Art’ concept, Art that is a unique depiction of the human condition.  I also believe in art with ethics and plan to setup a ‘Birth of Art’ foundation to enable young and inspiring artists to channel their energy into art and move away from the challenges of today’s society.
