Another artist from the prolific Massachusetts College of Art and Design. S A Custance is an American artist currently based in Berlin. we love that she is extremely inspired by the identity and historical energy of the Textilmuseum in Crimmitschau.

She proposes for Atomino 2010 to install her most recent project, Universal Rib Cage | I Kill You Kill Me.  This is a series of 33 small plaster sculptures, with each individual unit formally binding three rib cages into one unending circle. As always, we appreciate some words of the author about her work:

Through the installation of these sculptures a dichotomous element of destruction is revealed.  The series will be placed on the ground amidst a sand painting, associating the forms to a field of grenades.
Due to the nature of these objects it becomes clear that no one ribcage could be destroyed without at least two others also being effectively lost.  Through this work I expose the cumulative effect of violence, and the inseparable ties of humanity.
To realize this project I would simply need colored sand.  Also, I am very inspired by the entrance to the stream engine and would be ecstatic to work in this space.

It is great that Stephanie already is thinking of a specific place in Textilmuseum for her project. Know more about her in S A Custance Official Blog.
