Rachel King is a young artist from Edinburgh College of Art who is currently working and studying in Boston, USA. Limited View is the sequence of photographies we selected to show her work. And here we reproduce the statement that the artist submitted to us:

There is often a searching solicitude in the drive behind my work, a curiosity in the lives of others borne out of living my own life within the parameters of convention and security.

My photographic and overall artistic practice has always been experimental. When using a camera I try to consider what photography is; an action, a performance, an interaction, a process, an artifact. Each image is always part of a sequence, a visual conversation that leads me to what photography could be. Although I spend a great deal of time considering each photograph, I still try to maintain an aimless quality to my practice, working without a final result in mind. I tend to see each shoot as an experiment; a continuous search or series of tests, which momentarily satisfy my curiosity until the next.

Working with film provides my images with an unavoidable honesty. The unpredictable persona of the medium means there is always space for accidents, beautiful mistakes which confuse or compel the viewer to look closer and question. I want to make photographs that surprise myself and others through an alternative visual description.
